Educational Autobiography and Upcoming Readings

Stacia wrote me with a good question, the answer to which I thought perhaps all would benefit from hearing: no the EA3 is not due on Th, but next Tu (I'm using the course calendar as my guide here, and if you'll recall, everything's been pushed back one day).

Also, here's an update on upcoming readings, in case you're getting a head start: cancel the Yagelski and Elbow. I will give you something more easily digestible in class, along with the Finders and Hynds handout noted on the syllabus. On Tu, I'm giving you a edited course calendar with the revised dates and some readings removed to lighten your load a bit.

In the meantime, if you want to check out NCTE's position on NCLB, check out http://www.ncte.org/pubs/chron/highlights/127781.htm to see results from a poll of NCTE members about NCTE reauthorization AND NCTE's recommendation to Congress for the reuthorization of the legistlation at http://www.ncte.org/about/over/positions/category/gov/126451.htm . The best piece from NCTE on NCLB that really captures the spirit of how this legislation is affecting ELA teachers, though, can be found at
http://www.ncte.org/pubs/chron/highlights/123980.htm

Another great online resource about NCLB is the non-profit organization Fairtest's website: http://www.fairtest.org/nattest/bushtest.html#anchor126090 .

That's all for now. See you soon! -- Dr. Sarver

Hey,
A revised calender would definitely be a big help! Nice job on the blog.
